May 12, 2026 / if a code is updated in the woods

A coworker deleted three weeks worth of my code with no backup to supplement. So that was my day.

I also finally found the screenshots I've been missing for Spirit for my portfolio. Not a whole lot of luck with Egyptian Theater, though I found exactly one more screenshot of it to round out that entry. Better than nothing. It's not like me to lose an entire psd like that but at least I had exactly one screenshot of it with real data attached.

Another client reached back out to me. This one I do actually like. Going to find out what he needs on Friday. I'm glad I'm still on good terms with the guy and despite him having a whole development shop, still thinks I'm the right person to reach out to when his devs can't figure out a certain flow.

Here's the work I did for Spirit though. It was one of the better projects back at the agency because for once there was at least some professional photos involved. Vue.js was really annoying to work with and I don't even know why we went with it. Probably because it switched over states and timezones readily. Hardly worth it. Hardly consistent. Though I'm glad to not be writing anything in vue, I do miss this project and the people that I met while working on it.

In the slightest of updates to this site, I separated post containers apart. I don't know. makes me feel better. I also added pill styling around tags, which makes this blog probably more modern than it should be but I could very much see my 14 year old self wanting the same thing.

The gals' webinar is tomorrow. It'll be nice to watch someone else do it for once. They're presenting all the updates I helped design and publish to the instructor software. They're nice and nervous, just like I was. Can't wait to see what they've cooked up. Can't wait to sit and listen on the clock.

In a shocking turn of events, I've written ten pages worth of a zine and lecture I'd been stuck on for over a year. I was asked a while back to hold a lecture about art and technology and have been back and forth about it for months since. But through the creation of this blog, I've finally structured my thesis and dedicated some much-needed time for research. I'm stacking up articles to put up on my substack. I have some content in the queue for this blog. I pulled out some hard drives to sift through. I'm going to turn the cyberdeck on and see if I can run winamp or something on it for my hi-fi setup. It's been a strangely and refreshingly productive time. Again, I really needed it.

I forgot that having a website is a full-on hobby. Or it can be. And I'm hoping this will get me out of my zine-writing rut since I have a couple more ideas on my desk there too. I'm fully leaning into code as a hobby and making time for it again. More things I needed.

I used to spend almost all my time making premades and designs for others. I guess I do the same thing now for money, but it's really not the same. Especially with how boring the work can be. One of my least favorite clients called me last week and gave me a nice heap of anxiety. I still haven't called him back. He's a good guy and all, but his meetings were always a 2-hour minimum, he could barely afford me, and it took almost a full year to finalize one of the worst logos I've ever seen or made in my entire life. It was such a nightmare and I wish I had anyone to refer him to. Yikes. Maybe I take the easy way out and give him a number he simply cannot work with and call it a day.

May 9, 2026 / A Return of Color

I missed this. Being a girl rearranging her digital bedroom for hours a night. It's actually hard to remember how I passed the hours before notifications, DMs, and timelines. It was just reading a lot of other people's blogs, working on my next layout, making layouts for others. I doubt it'll be like that again, but it's cool to hunt for fanlistings and slow the fuck down. It's cool to have a guestbook. It's cool to have a hit counter. I should find a webring or two.

I'm also a big supporter of Web as Art and Making Art for No Reason in 2026. Neocities really showed me how happy and content people are just taking care of their own sites and documenting their lives on their own terms.

I look forward to experimenting with things my 2003 mind couldn't conceive, mostly the stark contrast in the lo-fi appearance of this site and the way every day life looks these days. My teenage self would struggle to comprehend that I'd be posting le creuset mugs on my grown up Woman Blog.

It's nice.
