Restaurant Rewards App Concept

In the midst of a pandemic, an entertainment agency conceptualized a rewards application designed for local restaurants and bars. App users could receive rewards for ordering from a number of locations and earn points/dollars to use at any other location. The app would tie in to restaurant point of sales, allowing users to earn points instantly by scanning their bill.

My role in the project was to create the user flow, design every screen interaction and process within the application as well as design the customer-facing landing page and administrator portal. The application was intended to have features such as:

  • Earning points from receipts by using your phone camera
  • Instant earing of points calculated by your bill total
  • Redeeming points at restaurants by communicating with the establishment’s point of sale system
  • RSVP to app user only events
  • Earn bonuses on special items and promotions
  • Search for participating restaurants using category filters or a map
  • A social aspect that allows a user to send points to friends
  • A social aspect that shows a user’s timeline activity in terms of dining history, points history, and photos with reviews
  • Ability to message users

App users can track their rewards, view upcoming events and promotions, and search for participating restaurants and locations using geolocator or favorite categories as defined in their profile and check-in history.

Restaurant owners also needed a portal to manage their reports, allocate points, view different metrics regarding rewards as well as manage their restaurant info and locations. A web-based portal was conceptualized as a way for restaurant owners to list and edit their business information.

The application administrator also needed a web-based portal to manage restaurants, reports, and billing information. The application administrator could also promote certain locations in their customer facing website for deals and promos in the overall search results page (right).
